How to

Taking a reading

  • Stand if you can, slide the marker to zero, deepest breath in, seal your lips, one short sharp blast.
  • Three blows, best one counts.
  • Take it before your inhaler dose, morning and evening. A reading after a dose measures the dose, not your baseline.
  • Same meter throughout, and take it to your appointment.

Judging whether treatment is working

  • Preventer inhalers act over weeks, not days. Set the date you started in Settings and the app compares before and after for you.
  • Three things move together when control improves: readings rise, the morning-to-evening swing narrows, and extra doses become rarer.
  • Tick Extra inhaler dose taken when you needed one beyond your regular morning and evening dose. Those readings are excluded from every average.

What the zones mean

  • Green is 80% or more of your personal best. Amber is 50 to 79%. Red is under 50%. Follow the emergency step in your action plan and get help.
